Cleaning Tips From the CMS Community!

Laundry tip: When I handwash my bras, I give them a good squeeze with my hands, then put them in the salad spinner to get rid of most of the moisture. They dry so much faster on the drying rack that way.

I injured my knee and couldn’t bend it for a while. I bought a microfiber mop to clean my bathtub with, just fill your mop bucket with hot water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid… then mop the tub clean.

I use my Swiffer to clean the bathtub and shower tiles just spray on your favorite cleaner and start wiping with your Swiffer no bending over

Used dryer sheets also make a great bug remover from the front of your car, truck, trailer, or motorcycle. Wet the item to be cleaned, wipe with the sheet. Let it stand for a minute.  Then just wipe them off. (Anyone who has cleaned bugs off a motorcycle knows how hard it can be. Not any more!

We always check in during breakfast what we want to be done, that way we both know what we should try to find time for during the day. It also takes a weight of my shoulders since I am best at spotting it, cause my husband is actually excellent at executing if he only knows what’s needed.

Here’s a handy trick:  instead of sucking the air out of your bag of ginger (or whatever else you put into a plastic bag)with your mouth, I keep a plastic straw close by…and when it’s time to get the air out of the bag….I close the top leaving just enuf room for the straw to fit in the bag……SUCK UP THE AIR THRU THE STRAW…finish sealing the bag and…..VOILA!!

Clean My Space Clean My Space to eliminate cross contamination I color code all my cleaning rags and microfiber cloths to designated areas.

My favorite tip is citrus peels. Great non-abrasive and disposable scrubbers, simmered in some water on the stove they make your house smell amazing, and I like to add extra peels to mason jars fun of vinegar under my sink. I use the infused vinegar as an all purpose cleaner that smells great and cuts through muck, seriously try it on leftover sticker residue.

Okay, Melissa! MY ULTIMATE most amazing cleaning tip of EVER and EVER is when my husband gets home and is about to put his clothes/lunchbox/wallet/watch/papers all over the house, I open my eyes like this ???????????? and point my finger to what hes about to do. tahdah! Then he puts it all away properly and my house is clean!

  1. I’m a live in caregiver for my parents who both have Alzheimer’s. I bought all natural orange spray deodorizer to help keep chemicals out of the house/bathroom. Since then I found it’s great for removing sticky residue, but better yet for cleaning the black dirt off the leading edge of ceiling fan blades. Simply spray a microfiber cloth with a little orange oil, wipe clean, and follow up with another microfiber cloth with glass cleaner to remove any oil residue.
I’d love to hear how to clean laminate floors. I don’t know what was used in theirs before, but they are always streaky when I finish. I’ve tried plain water, vinegar, and soap in combos and alone. Aarrgghhhh….

  2. My hack for tough baked on food in a casserole dish is a dryer sheet. Fill the dish with warm water and add the sheet. Let it stand for 20-30 minutes when you are doing other tasks. when you return to the dish, the food will come off easily. For really tough jobs, you may need to soak longer.

  3. That’s a nice salad spinner! I’m in the market for a good one (for soggy salad… not soggy bras). What brand is it and where can I get one? Thanks!

    • I love my Kitchenaid spinner! I eat a lot of salads and I can’t stand soggy lettuce. This is the best spinner I have come across so far. I have had mine for several years and purchased it at Costco but I believe you can order one through Amazon or Bed, Bath and Beyond might carry these. Hope this helps.

  4. Thank you for all these tips. You’re so upbeat and fun to watch!!! I have learned so much from you, sms I can’t wait till your new videos come out!
