The Best Toilet Seats Ever: Bemis

5942

Hey, you! Yes, you. Is your toilet seat meeting all your tushy needs? When’s the last time you thought about your toilet seat? And did you know that there are many toilet seat options out there, so you and your tushy never have to settle?

That’s why I partnered with the fabulous folks at Bemis to talk all things toilet seats. Bemis is an amazing company working in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, and they’ve been in business for 120 years! They were actually the first toilet seat manufacturer to use plastic hinges on their seats.

Bemis has been manufacturing wood toilet seats since 1932 and injection-molded plastic toilet seats since 1964. They expanded into retail in the mid-1950s, creating Mayfair, a new product line. Mayfair by Bemis is still known today for its style and design. Now in their fourth generation of family leadership, Bemis is an innovative company that cares about the environment and invests in their community.

Not only is Bemis family-owned, but they’ve employed many families with multiple generations all working at Bemis. And they are committed to creating eco-friendly toilet seats and starting and contributing to environmental initiatives in Wisconsin. They even converted 54 acres of Bemis-owned farmland into prairie land!

So if you’re wondering why I chose to partner with Bemis, that’s one reason. But another is their absolutely amazing toilet seats. Today we’re going to go over my three favorite Bemis toilet seats. So if you’re searching for the best toilet seat out there, you’re sure to find it right here.

Environmental Benefits of Bemis

Bemis is an industry expert in injection molding technology. What does this mean? For plastic seats, Bemis incorporates approximately 1.2 million pounds of reclaimed plastic into their seats every year!

Bemis has also identified several internal streams of waste materials that are collected and processed, which they use in their plastic toilet seats and sell to other processors. This diverts over 550,000 pounds of waste from landfills each year.

On top of this, Bemis uses 175,000 pounds of reclaimed plastic from local manufacturers. The material is sorted, reprocessed, tested, and used to manufacture some of the hinges for their toilet seats. This is innovative technology, folks! And it’s being used to benefit the environment.

For their enameled wood seats, Bemis sources post-production wood shavings from window and floor manufacturers across Wisconsin. This means that no trees are harmed in the making of your toilet seat. Plus, this wood material would normally be destined for a landfill. But instead, Bemis repurposes it to be made into excellent enameled wood toilet seats.

This isn’t even all of the amazing environmental initiatives Bemis has, but that would take a much longer article to cover. So without further ado, let’s get into my three favorite Bemis toilet seats.

Mayfair by Bemis Affinity®

Affinity is a fully-featured plastic toilet seat. This means it has all the great features Bemis is known for. This includes:

  • STA-TITE® (stay tight) installation. The seat installs easily and will never loosen. Ever.
  • Precision Seat Fit™. During installation, this feature lets you adjust the seat in a front-to-back motion, letting you get the seat just where you like it. Eliminates over and underhang, giving you the perfect fit.
  • Whisper Close®. These innovative hinges slowly close the seat so there’s no loud bang.
  • Easy Clean® hinge system. Hinges let you remove the seat to get at those hard-to-reach places around the bolt holes. Simply flip up the hinge caps, gently slide the seat forward, and clean to your heart’s content! Reverse the process when you’re finished.
  • Super Grip Bumpers™. Designed for extra stability, these bumpers eliminate seat shifting.

Affinity has a modern design that complements your modern bathroom. It’s available in beautiful neutral tones that harmonize with a variety of décors and comes in round and elongated shapes. And no, I never thought I would use the words beautiful and toilet seat in the same sentence, but here I am.

When it comes to cleaning, Affinity is easy-peasy. Use antibacterial wipes, antibacterial hand soap, or dish soap to clean your Bemis seat. Never use bleach, vinegar, scouring powders, detergents, or harsh chemicals, as they can dull the glossy finish of this toilet seat.

Mayfair by Bemis Benton®

This is an enameled wood toilet seat. Yes, you heard me right! Before you keep scrolling, an enameled wood toilet seat is completely different than a wood-grained seat with seams. An enameled wood seat is a strong, comfortable seat with a glossy finish that complements any sleek, modern bathroom.

Hinge finishes for the Benton include matte black, brushed nickel, and chrome, making this seat aesthetically versatile. It has an enameled wood ring and cover and includes a lot of awesome features:

  • STA-TITE® (stay tight) installation. The seat installs easily and will never loosen. Ever.
  • Whisper Close®. These innovative hinges slowly close the seat so there’s no loud bang.
  • Stylish metal hinges complement bath hardware or décor

The result is a versatile toilet seat with superior strength and performance and a warm, inviting feel. To clean your Benton, use warm water and antibacterial wipes, antibacterial hand soap, or dish soap only. Always dry the cover and ring thoroughly, and never use bleach, vinegar, pine or essential oils, harsh chemicals, scouring powder, disinfectants, or products in aerosol cans.

This is the ultimate potty training toilet seat without the potty: no more stand-alone potty chairs, just Bemis.

The child ring secures to the lid with a magnet when it’s not in use, and it’s easy to lower when needed. It doesn’t slip and slide around like other training seats, making children feel secure. Plus, the NextStep2 includes many of the the great features of Affinity and Benton:

The NextStep2 is available in white, and it’s comfortable and secure for the whole family. The NextStep2 adds that warm wood feeling to any bathroom.

Clean your NextStep2 as you would a Benton. Use warm water and antibacterial wipes, antibacterial hand soap, or dish soap only. Always dry the cover and ring thoroughly, and never use bleach, vinegar, pine or essential oils, harsh chemicals, scouring powder, disinfectants, or products in aerosol cans.

  1. My husband fell against the Beemis toilet seat. I now have the lid disconnected from the seat. I cannot figure out how to get it back on as the hinge has plastic prongs that stick out.
