Cleaning dust, fingerprints and marks off screens is certainly important to keep the item in great shape.  However, we know we’re not supposed to use any old product on these electronics because cleaning them with anything other than something safe could ruin the finish, take off the protective coatings or damage the screen or electronic item itself.  Rather than paying many, many dollars for a store brand, just whip up your own.  I’ve spoken to several people at electronic stores and over and over again, I am told this is the safest and most effective solution.  Also, make sure you use this with a microfiber cloth and spray away from the item to dampen the cloth and then clean the electronic, never spray directly onto the item to avoid damaging it.  To whip up this cleaner which costs pennies, here’s what you need:

  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1/4 cup distilled water (there are no minerals which means no traces will be left behind on the item)

Add to a small spray bottle and shake well.  The rubbing alcohol serves double duty of removing grease AND bacteria, and will dry super quick to avoid residue or streaks.
