Making your own folding board is fun and easy! If Creepy Carl can do it then you certainly can too – just follow these simple instructions and you will be folding like a pro in no time at all.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Cardboard boxes (the bigger the better)
  • Duct Tape
  • Exacto / Box Cutting Knife
  • Ruler or Yardstick

What To Do

Lay out your cardboard on a flat surface that you can cut on (don’t slice into your nice table or carpet!). Cut out two rectangular pieces about 12″ by 24″, then cut out two square-ish pieces about 12″ by 12″. I made mine a little big since I where mostly large & extra large shirts – I’ve seen people cut them down to 9″ – but that’s too small for my liking 🙂

Lay the two longer pieces (we’ll call them 1 and 2) along side the two smaller pieces (3 and 4, with four being on the bottom).

Then tape the top of piece 1 and piece 2 to piece 3 and tape the bottom of piece 3 to the top of piece 4. Be sure to tape on both sides of the folding board

Now your board is complete. To use simply place a shirt with the collar at the top of the board, fold over any overhang to match up with the bottom of the board.

Flip over piece 1 then piece 2, followed by piece 4.

Put away your nicely folded shirt!

That’s it! You are done.

  1. So glad I stumbled across this video on YouTube! I had been looking at folding boards on Amazon but, I too, could not commit to buying one for $20-$30. Ridiculous! I didn’t even think to make my own til I saw this (🤦🏻‍♀️Duh!).
Also, I just recently discovered the Melissa Maker Clean with Me and How to Clean videos. They have been super helpful & handy for me by making my job cleaning houses a bit easier, way more efficient & also a little more economical. Your videos have also helped me earn better reviews as well as more repeat customers; which means more money in my pocket!
    So, all that being said..
Thank you! You guys are awesome! Please keep posting new content. I’ll be on the lookout for your next new video! 💜

  2. Hi, I wear 2X. Could You give me the bigger board sizes? Could You tell me what is the best boxes to get? Is it toilet paper, papertowel or something else?

    • If you haven’t made this yet, I got my cardboard
At the Dollar store. It’s called presentation board. Perfect. The dimensions are good also. I’m a 2x also. Just got done making it.

  3. You two are so so good at productions of videos, I am amazed at how good your content is and how creatively you instruct. Truly the best I’ve seen! And you keep coming out with new videos all the time. Thank you for the new book and all you do to teach and encourage us!

  4. I fold mine that way, then I put them in the drawer standing up
together and I can see which shirt I want. It works great.

  5. But Chad is too cool to be called creepy. I like the late night feel of segment since Melissa’s segments are very bright and during the day. Guys tend to do stuff late at night anyway so he can be Chad after hours, or Chad@night, or Random online profile Guy since they tend to be awkwardly dressed lol 🙂

  6. Ugh, i could have used this 3 years ago when i bought mine. Thanks for the idea and i agree, change Carl’s name. Cheap Chad? Frugal Frank?

  7. I made this. Thanks Carl!!! LOL! I did cut parts 3 & 4 the height of my dresser drawer so i can fit the t-shirts record style (need to maximize my space and be able to see every T available at a glance.

    Thanks for the awesome idea!!!

  8. You failed to put the dimensions of the two smaller cardboard pieces in the instructions. What is showing is: ‘ ” by 15″ ‘. I want to make this but have limited access to good cardboard. Please let me know at your earliest convenience. I watch your videos that show up on Facebook.

  9. Give him a different name please. Skinflint Carl, Cheap Carl, Dorky Carl, townie Carl, handy dandy Carl. Calling someone creepy is unkind. There for the grace of god go I.
