So many of you tell me how painful, time-consuming and futile cleaning your glass shower door has become. I’ve read so many of your questions and comments about this and have made some suggestions, but I know the issue has not been put to rest. And, you probably know that I get sent a billion samples of the ‘latest and greatest cleaning products’, which, by the way, I mostly ignore. But, one came across my desk that piqued my attention and I think you’re going to be very interested in it too. So today, I am going to do a review of that product for you because guys, I think I stumbled across the answer to your cries and it’s called EnduroShield.
Now, the most important thing I need to tell you is that EnduroShield is NOT a cleaner, it’s an (ultra-long lasting ) preventative maintenance treatment in the form of a non-stick coating which you can apply yourself to glass. One single application lasts beyond 3 years. It causes water and soap scum to bead off the glass instead of leaving residue behind. Basically, this means it makes cleaning an absolute breeze. As in, you never have to scrub, ever again. And, what got me really excited? It’s completely safe to use. It’s also been talked about on TV and in magazines as a very modern and effective cleaning technology, so of course, I had to get in on the action.
Let me give you an analogy of how it works. Think of it like using a non-stick frying pan to fry eggs vs. using a stainless steel one. Your non-stick pan has a coating which prevents sticking and makes clean up easy. You still have to clean it, but you just wipe it out with a cloth and soapy water. Whereas if you used a stainless steel pan, you’d be scrubbing and soaking because there’s no coating. EnduroShield applies that very concept to glass. Yes, any glass surface, but I am just going to cover showers for the sake of making this point.
So that invisible treatment equates to no scrubbing, soap scum, hard water stains, overnight treatments, or frustrations. It’s pretty smart; prevent the ability for the dirt to form, and you never have to scrub again, you just need to maintain. So literally, you clean your shower by wiping the glass walls with a damp microfiber cloth, and water, and a mild detergent (such as dish washing liquid or soap). Then you’re done!
For areas with hard water, you know where water leaves those white marks when it dries, a solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 5 parts water or stronger) must be used with a damp microfiber cloth! While sometimes you can see these marks build up between cleans, you’ll see a real benefit when using EnduroShield because like the non-stick fry pan analogy I mentioned before, they are so much easier to remove compared to regular glass, AND the treatment has protected the glass so they aren’t penetrating and damaging it. EnduroShield is also so tough you can use a magic eraser and undiluted white vinegar once a month, and it will still last beyond 3 years!
That’s why I really wanted to show it to you. What is really neat is that the glass is protected underneath, so even if you don’t clean the glass for weeks (or months) it’s a quick clean up. That’s the Eureka moment I found!
I don’t have one of these fancy pants, high falutin (sp?) glass showers…but, fortunately, my mom has 3, so I went over there to try this stuff out.
Now remember, you have to start with clean glass, and thankfully my mom has taken care of that. EnduroShield comes with everything you need though, including cleaner and a polishing pad to remove existing buildup.
I know you might be wondering, what crazy chemicals are contained in this product to make this magic happen. But come on guys, you know me better than that. I wouldn’t even consider telling you about a product if I didn’t grill the company about the ingredients and felt good about it. The main ingredient in this is rubbing alcohol. I’ve read their MSDS sheets and there are no side effects or possible health-related issues associated with using the product, no off gas, no nothing. Go ahead and check them out for yourself!
Some people put Rain X or Turtle Wax in their shower to get the same effect, but that stuff only lasts a matter of weeks… Need I say more?
You do need to apply it in a ventilated space because, well, it has that strong smell, like rubbing alcohol does. But not a smell you need to concern yourself with being in the same room as. They recommend wearing protective gear for the regular reasons, so you don’t get any irritations.
So, after doing a ton of research about this product, testing it out, and speaking to the developers about it, I can tell you that it lives up to its claims and is really a fantastic treatment to provide to your glass shower door to make clean up easier. In fact, you can apply it to your windows or sliding doors, car windows — even tiles, to make cleaning a breeze.
I was so excited to share this news with you guys and I feel like it is going to help you out – I want to hear about your experiences with it! I also want to thank EnduroShield for helping us put this video together. They do have another product for stainless steel, which I’ll cover soon in another review video. Yes, we worked with them on this project, but as with any partnership we have at CMS, the rigors we put partners through are painstaking, and this company passed the test.
So, let me know in the comments below if you have tried it and what you think of it, or if you are planning to try it out!
